So i recorded something with my sony digital video camera recorder but i did it without a memory stick and just a video cassette tape (Hi8MP). is there still a way to transfer the stuff on the cassette tape to my computer? do i even need a memory stick to do this? im so clueless on digital cameras!

i read that you can do it w/ a dvd burner or you have to convert it to a dvd (if so what cheap program to use)? i'm not sure about these methods though. :( please help!

  1. Hi8 camcorders are analog. In order to transfer the video, you need to get an "analog/digital bridge". Connect the camcorder to the AV-cable that cam in the box with the camcorder. The other end of the AV cable connects to the A/D bridge. The A/D bridge connects to your computer.

    if your computer has firewire.

Once in your computer, you can edit and burn to a DVD.

OR, if you don;t want to edit, you can get a "direct to DVD box - plug the camcorder into it and burn the DVD:
