How to transfer video from pc on sony dcr-sr40 camcorder?

well here is the thing. i was running out of space on the camera and just stored some of the video files on the PC, now i want to put it back in the camcorder so that i can view it on my television through the camcorder. i copy the file in the same folder were the videos are stored and although it shows up when i access through the PC i dont see em when i look for em in the cameras LCD display...please help as i dont have a DVD player for my television and cant hook up my comp to the television either.

It sounds like the computer changed either: the file type OR the file extension Or name
