How to transport a kayak in a sedan?

I just recently purchased a smaller sedan with a sunroof and want to purchase a kayak. I'll need a rack obviously. Don't have a clue as to how to go about it. Can anyone offer advice?

I suggest going with Yakima.  EMS or REI will fit you with the racks.  If you're handy, they are not that difficult to put on with a friend.  I have a 2 door car and had to use the short roof extention.  I'm not sure what you have.  I've had both Yakima and Thule on my car with their versions of the short roof extension. Thule flew off in 75 mile/ hour traffic on an interstate because it pulled apart. I also lost a boat off of the roof another time they pulled apart.  The Yakima racks have been a much better option.  I tighten them periodically which I can do by hand and is easy. Good luck!
