Agatti is NOT a cheap place to go to or stay in. There is only one hotel in Agatti and you cannot stay anywhere else. Minimum cost is around Rs 10,000/- per day.

If you want to see all the islands at a cheap price then it is better to take a ship cruise conducted by the Lakshadweep government. Google for SPORTS, Lakshadweep, which is the name of the organization which runs cruises.

Travelling to Agatti Island, Lakshadweep by Rail is not existing/possible as on date as the distance from the mainland India to the island is through the Arabian Sea for about more than three hundred miles.

From Mumbai, regular connections to Agatti are almost negligible and difficult to spot. Additionally, permissions from the authorities administrating the Lakshadweep islands are required to travel and stay there. Under the situation, it would be advisable for you to go to Kochi from where you can have air and cruiseline connections to Agatti. Necessary permissions to visit and stay there at the limited available places of stay in the island can also be obtained from the Lakshadweep Tourism Office at the Willingdon Island in Kochi. These permissions, travel arrangements, package tours etc can also be obtained through the offices of the Lakshadweep Tourism across India.

whay should you go to agatti?instead of agatti you can go to andaman  islands.it has lot of places to see and its also clean and cheap compared to agatti.more over in agatti no acccomodation options,minimum faclitites,etc.nothing to see other than snorkelling.but andamna has lot of places and options.visit andamantours.in for more details,i have gone by this website and enjoyed it very much
