How to treat a blister

Question

My daughter has a blister the size of a dime on the bottom of her foot. I have googled it and learned to pop it and drain it due to it's size and location...but wondered if there was any other advise for treating it from other parents.

We are heading to the lake in 3 days and I sure would love to have her go play in the water without worry that this will get infected...

I've always heard not to pop them, but....

If she is going to play in lake water I would suggest neosporin plus and a waterproof bandaid.
