  1. Clean cool running water over the burn for 10 minutes.  Do not apply any kind of petroleum based product.  As a nurse I would only apply silvadine cream or a cream that states it is for burns.

  2. cold brings quickest relief but don't do ice...too cold & can damage the area as the skin's already trying to heal--the cold could inhibit the healing process.

    Aloe gel--not lotion.

A numbing agent:  Ambesol for toothaches or teething pain.  Also,  I have a spray for itching called DERMOPLAST but it's good for burns too--numbs so you don't know you're hurting!

  3. The best thing for burns is to run them under cold water pat it dry with a clean towel and apply Sudocrem which is especially for burns (also grazes and nappy rash) it works a WONDER!! Take alot of pain and that throbing feeling away too!!

  4. You're not being a wuss! burns hurt!

Firstly run the burn under some cold running water. This should soothe the area and reduce the swelling. Do this for as long as you need. Next get an ice pack, or if you dont have one, get some ice cubes and put them into a freezer bag. Tie it up and cover in a tea towel. Rest on the burn. The longer you do this, the less swelling there will be and the less pain. Keep an eye on the burn if you are really concerned that you may have burnt yourself more than just the first layer of skin, i would advise seeing a doctor.

    Hope it all works out

p.s dont apply anything like toothpaste or bi carb soda, they are old wives tales and dont work. Good old fashioned water does the trick.

You can apply some healing cream once the pain of the burn has subsided and if a blister does appear, dont pop, let it be and itll pop on its own. Pop it too early and you'll not only get pain but leave yourself open to infections
