How to treat a deeply cut lip??

Question

I bit my lip last night and it was very deep and bled a lot. Don't ask how I did it... I was watching tv and it didnt hurt when I did it so I didnt realise when i bit through it. I know... silly me. anyway its very deep and was purple at the bottom of the cut. today my lip had gone yellow-white around the cut and is swollen slightly. Is there anything i can put on the cut to help it heal? It's very sore and hurts when it comes in contact with anything, especially fruits because they are acidic. Any ideas? Thankyou :D
