  1. Most likely its iron chlorosis, the yellowing of the leaves do to lack of iron. Now yellowing can also be caused by insect or disease problem as well as herbicide misuse or history of over watering. If you have ruled out the later problems then have you PH tested, if its 7.0 to 7.5 then iron deficiency is likely.Several treatment methods are available..soil application of elemental sulfur combined with ferrous sulfate..or..iron chelates..or sprays containing ferrous sulfate or chelated iron.It is not necessary to treat a large lawn area with the ele.sulfur and fer sulfate combination..dig a hole about 2in by 12 to 18 inches deep 24 inches or so apart..fill within 4 inches of the soil surface..be sure to dig holes out at the drip line of the tree. Now this method and depth and width of holes depends on the size Of the tree.A quick call or visit to your county ag. agent couldn't hurt.
