Question:

How to treat spider bites?

I know I didn't get bitten by something poisonous because, lets face it, I wouldn't be on here looking for advice.. I'd probably be in the hospital.

How do I reduce the size and redness of my spider bites? We don't have Neosporin or Calamine lotion. I've been using Anti-Itch and rubbing alcohol to stop the itching, but I'm mostly concerned about making the bites less red and swollen.

How do I do this? Please and thanks. :)

  1. Take over the counter benadryl, (antihistamine) and use some cortisone cream on the bite area. Both will reduce the reaction and swelling. Cold packs also help.

  2. You may have been bitten by a brown recluse spider. If you have you should go to the doctor. If you don't know what kind it was I would suggest going to the doctor. Brown recluse can cause a lot of problems.

  3. Something else to worry about...some spiders lay their eggs under your skin. This doesn't mean that they are going to hatch out and you going to have baby spiders all over(they are not viable). But if the eggs are left in , it takes much longer to heal . But think of what happens when you leave a splinter in, you can't really heal till it's gone. Go to the doc. Moth

  4. This is an old remedy passed down for generations in my family, and it may sound silly, but it really does work.  Chew up a little bit of tobacco (like from a cigarette, etc.) just enough to make it wet and sloppy.  Put it directly on the bite.  It will stop the sting and itching within a few minutes.  Nicotine has an agent in it that naturally soothes and removes the toxin of spider, wasp, and other bug bites.  The sooner you can do it, the quicker and better the relief.

    Good luck!
