ok so ive been doing summer mileage since the first of June

i didnt have a ride to the local park so for the first 2 weeks i ran on the sidewalk

i began, then, to get shin splints but was icing / cooling my legs in the pool and they felt better

the past two weeks ive been running in the canal --- my shins dont really hurt but i still feel something on my left foot (right below my kneecap - probably top of tibia)

it almost feels like an itch but its pain, soreness

ive been running through it and can barely feel it when i run (it flares up after i run and lessens throughout the day)

just wondering, what should i do?

i really do not want to stop running

ive been icing it and have taken pain killers the last couple days

  1. Start walking backwards.  This will stretch different types of muscles that were never stretched before and this will also alleviate some of the pain

  2. Continue to run on it and it'll go away eventually.  No pain, no gain, soldier!

  3. Go to your podatrist, he will tell you what is up.

Tell him how long it started to happen

    what makes it feel better/worse

    pain level 1-10, 1=no pain. 10=most

  4. Just under the kneecap?  If it's a bump, you have Osgood Slaughter's disease.  You get it from over use of your legs.  It's an irritation and inflammation of those muscles.  I have it too.  You'll just have to take it easy.  It very rarely gets worse, but it sure does hurt.  It took mine 2.5 years to completely heal up.

  5. It is your knee???.......Well, I would just go to a medical doctor..and ask him for an x-ray...otherwise he is just GUESSING what it is...You are doing the right thing though icing it and taking pain killer..Good luck!!!

  6. Go to a podiatrist. There's definitely something wrong with how you step and your podiatrist will help you fix that.
