  1. I think what he is talking about in the blog post is not a different tuning system, just tweaking the standard tuning so it sounds right in that particular key.

    Because of "equal temperment", whenever you tune an instument, there are certain compromises made which make notes slightly out of tune in order to make the whole instrument work. Depending on the key you are playing in, this could be ok, or it could be a big problem. What he's doing is making sure the guitar truly sounds in-tune when playing a C chord, not just checking the tuner to make sure the strings make the green light come on.

    Other than that, the guitar could be thought of as being tuned to C, as all the notes of the open strings are in the C scale, though they are also in the D and G scales, so there are a few different opinions there.
