  1. i understand that you would like to have the opinion of other people on how to resolve a problem, but it worries me that you have been given a job with major responsibility and you feel it necessary to ask for help from random people.

with that said, here is my random opinion. always follow your heart. you have always had an idea of how a school should be run and now is your chance to make it happen. don't get mixed up in the politics that you will face daily. you are not in this position for people to like you but for people to respect and follow. I don't mean put fear into your staff, but make rational and logical decisions that are good for the school as a whole. you can never please each individual. you can only persuade them to help in achieving to meet the school's goals that you have set forth. There will always be people that don't care for you, but everyone will respect you if you stand behind your beliefs and decisions.

"Education" is the goal. believe in whats right and do what it takes to achieve it.

P.S. NEVER CATER TO THE KIDS!!!!! They are children and think like children. If they really knew what was best for them they would be adults. If that means pissing of some parents, well....take your chances. You will be respected for it.
