How to turn off a electric water heater?

i was wondering how can i turn it completely off?

go to your breaker box and turn it off.

you might be lucky and find a switch above the heater. if not then look at your fuse box and it will shut off there

Find the circuit breaker that feeds it and turn it off. It will probably be a breaker rated at around 30amps.
