How to turn off the flash on my Canon Rebel XT?

I know this answer is probably in my manual, but I kind of need to know the answer like, right now lol. I really dont have time to read through and find the answer!!

Quit using the Auto mode ... and don't pop it up unless you want to use it.

You should NEVER use the Auto mode anyhow.  Its the single worst thing you can do if you want to learn anything about photography.

In any of the creative modes, the flash must be raised manually.  Using Program mode, is, for most purposes, the same as Auto without the automatic flash.
