How to turn off wireless connection to people with laptops which have built-in wireless cards?

Ok a lot of people around me like to "leech" off my internet. Unfortunatly most of them use limewire, torrents, and other downloading programs. I've found out that I can disconnect most of them by removing my routers antena (I have a Westell router). Now the problem is that I can't disconnect anyone who is using a laptop with built-in wireless cards (Idk what those are called =X). Is there any way that I can make sure that no one can connect to my internet/router?

  1. Put a security key on your router so that people have to know the key in order to connect to your network. Use WPA or WEP encryption keys and they're easily set up through your router's setup area/program. I set mine up directly in the router software. You'll have to add the key to your laptop/desktop in order to connect to your own network, but it's worth it.

There are several types and this secures your network from people regardless of what they use (laptop or desktop).

It's a good idea to *always* secure your network unless you're charging them for access.

  2. you gotta secure your internet connection...if you have a linksys router, type ion the default IP address in your browser (usually 192.168.1.1) just type tyhat in your address bar and make sure your connection is WEP secured in the settings

  3. well if you put an encription key on it that would help but you could also disable wireless connections altogether, you have to type the ip of your router in look around for the option it should be there

  4. Use WPA.  Do not use WEP.

  5. What you need to do is to secure your router with WPA to encrypt your WiFi traffic so that only your computers can get on your network.
