How to turn on Kenwood KM-Z1 amp with SL16 input

Question

I have a KM-Z1 6 channel amp that I have connected to a Marantz AV9000. The amp used to turn itself on when it was hooked up to the Kenwood KC-Z1 and the SL16 cable was connected between the two. Now that it is hooked up to the AV9000, which does not have a SL16 jack, the amp must be turned on manually. The amp has a power button but will not turn itself on unless you push the additional center panel button. Is there a way to use the SL16 jack with the AV9000? What type of signal does the SL16 output?
