  1. Use the line in port (typically blue) instead of the microphone port, but know that the line in port has a different input impedance value than the microphone port, which means the level of the sound may be diminished. No worries if you know how to amplify the recorded signal with audio software. You may have to open up your sound volume controls and un-mute the line in port from the INPUT section. Un-muting it on the output section will just mean whatever is coming through your line-in port will be played through your speakers.
