How to understand message boards?

Question

I never used a message board before ,and would like to no the steps of how it works.

For example : Do you click on to the message and then click to post

Sign-in at http://messages.yahoo.com/ and click on the list of boards e.g science . And then click any name of board on the list of the boards and then click on any message in the list of messages and then click on reply or post message at the bottom of screen. thats it.
