How to unlock a locked set top box?

Question

the box doesn't have a reset button that I can find. the child lock green light is on (it came on overnight by itself - we didn't put it on) The remote won't work, so we can't get to the menu to remove the child lock, and the box own't work at all - it seems completely locked up.

We tried unplugging power & aerial overnight but it didn't work. If the aerial lead is unplugged, the green lock goes out but we still can't get the menu

hit the reset button on the box. majority of the time on the bottom, sometimes back.
