How to unlock text messaging on nextel phone i 580

Question

i bought a nextel phone and had someone unlock it to use on the telus network. problem is i can receive text messages but they do not say who they are from and i cannot reply to them. i also can not send or receive any picture messages either......can someone help me.....i use text alot
