how do i unseal the top of a urn

Traditional urns have a plug over the top which is sealed with wax. Scrape out enough wax to pop the plug.

If yours is soldered (fluxed metal) then you'll need heat, like a soldering iron, to remove the metal, if it will not scrape out.

Or you can just take the manly method of breaking the vessel and spilling the contents.
