  1. i suppose it really depends on the grade you're teaching...

tho there are some issues that seem to be universal.

it's been my experience (tho i'm just a student-teacher at this point, with an emphasis in early childhood education) that one of my biggest problems is earning respect from students and personnel cuz i have a sort of "urban bohemian" style that is a little funky, relaxed, but still professional... but since it's not frumpy like some of the older teachers, i've found that it pays to just tone it down a notch every now and then when in meetings, etc....

also, being full-prepared for any situation, from emergencies to sponge activities seems to be a never-ending task (tho, really, can we ever really be prepared enough? hehe).

but most of all, my biggest challenge has been forcing myself myself construct a "professional boundary" where you have to resist the urge to be their "friend" because you are their "teacher"... tho, of course, that shouldn't stop you from being kind or friendly!

    etc.

it's all about experience and finding a balance....

but, at risk of sounding corny, hehe,  even as teachers we're students, you know?

    good lucK!
