What is the best way to apply aloe vera to speed up healing of a cut/wound and how often should I re-apply it?

Also how much does it reduce healing time by and is it more effective than lavender oil?

Any info would be much appreciated x x

  1. my mama would cut in half a natural aloe apply directly to the wound and itself would do the job three times a day

  2. Its more effective than lavender oil,

    what you do is

cut the green leafy part of the aloe vera stem off.

Then you should have a Transparent sticky jelly.

Rub this jelly on your wound twice a day,

    or eat it with sugar.

  3. Aloe vera: you mean the juice of the plant, right?  Don't put it on an open wound.  It will ease the pain of sunburn, but it won't cure anything.  In particular, don't put it in your mouth.

  4. Rub it on - put a bandage over it.

  5. I do not like the pre bottled stuff so I will tell you how to use the fresh kind.

Best way is to take a hold of a long leaf and cut it away from the plant with a sharp table knife ( a small one works just fine).

Cut the vary tip off and discard.  Take the leaf and cut it down the middle from top to bottom. and break open by taking it into two hands and bending each side back.  So you will see a  gelatinous transperent  sort of firm cream inside.  Scrape it all out and store it is a clean bottle close it and keep it in the fridge.

I have seen it reduce the pink around wounds like bed sores.

How to apply it:.  On sunburns - spread it on so a layer of gel is visible about 3 - 4 milimeters if you measure it and let it soak in .  Do not cover.  On cuts - scoop on a spoonful so you always have a layer but a little thincker this time to allow for the amount that will be absorbed by the gauze patch that you will put on it.   Keep it on overnight and renew the application once or twice a day.

Before reapplying you may want to rinse the area with boiled water that has cooled down to room temperature.

    I hope this helps.
