I was bought a knitting nancy from the order catalog ( Bits and Pieces ). It has sort of 4 small nails on it with rounded heads, you use yarn and put it around each nail then pull the yarn down through the bottom of the wooden nancy,it has an opening there and on top.I can't understand the instructions. Can anyone explain how to use one, give easy instructions please. It is like a large spool for thread with nails on it.I hope someone understands what I mean.

  1. i cant remember the start exactly. this is how i remember doin it.

leave about 3cm of string, and put it in the hole in the centre. let your finger hold the string in place.

Loop the string/yarn etc around each nail. you will need to do this twice.

then you get the first loop (on the bottom), and take it off the nail (gets 'thrown' into the hole inside. you do that for all four nails.

then you do the loops to have 2 sets loops again. repeat process...

when you run out of string, it ties itself off. the same way as starting...

  2. When you do it with a knitty noddy it's called "french Knitting" I've included a link with illustrations. Good luck

  3. I once saw that thing in a craft store many years back when I was not interested to do knitting/crochet.

I remember there were some instructions on the back of the packet where you have to wrap around those nails & then just drop them in through the hole.

I regret I didnt buy that thing. Otherwise I can give a better detail to you.
