i know who to properly rig a sluggo, but i am not sure how to use it. do i put a weight on it? because even though it is probably a foot long. it takes a long time to sink. so is it a top water or under water type of lure. and what is the retrieve speed. and finally, what conditions are best for using one. such as time of day, type of water, and weather. thank you

  1. the most effective way to fish these is right before or after the spawn and throw it out let it sink twitch it erratically for about 10 seconds and let it sink again

  2. Slug-go is a jerk bait. You rig it without weight texas style. You let it sink to the bottom, jerk it a little and let it sink again. Once it's on the bottom again, you either jerk it again or you pause a little before you jerk it again; how fast you should fish it will depend on the condition.

There are many other ways to fish a slug-go too. You can twitch it on the surface. You can drop shot it. You can wacky worm it. You can let it sink to the bottom and make it twitch; pause and go until you retrieved it. You can put it on a jig head and bounce it off the bottom. Drag it on the bottom while on a jig head will work also. By the way, it will work in both freshwater and saltwater.
