How to use a train?

how do you know when to get off a train at the station you want to get off at?

do they shout out what station you are approching ? or do they have a board that displays what station you are at?

Listen tentatively to the conductor when you come into a station he will tell you were you are.

And usually there is a map of the trains stops and other roots on-board the train

If you have a conductor, just ask him to tell you when to get off!  If it's automatic, then they'll will be signs inside that announce the stops!

There are announcements and signs at the stations - just look outside.

Trains operate on schedule too so you can also simply check your watch to know approximately when you're approaching your station.

Usually a pre-recorded voice will speak on the p.a. system, telling you the next station and all of the stations the train stops at. Anyway thats the case with the company I am "south eastern rail". Maybe other train companies are different, i dunno. But you can see the name of the station out of the window when the train stops. There is also an electronic display board on board the train and at the stations.

You can see the station name through the window of the train, as it is displayed on boards on the platform. On most trains the station will be announced over the train's p.a. system either through an on board computer or by the guard/conductor/train manager

Where are you? In all the trains I've been on in Chicago, there's a recording that says the name of the upcoming stop (both a little before and during). There's also maps and schedules every where for people to keep track.
