i have a vista laptop (acer) and am trying to hook it up to a projector via a VGA cable. Now, if the laptop is already on and i connect them, i can't get the projector to pick up the signal. however, if the cable is connected and i restart the laptop, the projector will pick up a signal when the laptop reboots.

How can i get the projector to pick up the signal when my computer is already on? (i'm pretty sure the solution lies in the laptop, and not any problem with the projector).
