  1. Capacitors for power factor correction will not affect the slip of an AC motor.  Synchronous motors are run as DC machines.  The AC-DC converter must be included in the P.F. correction.

    To correct the power factor, place 1 capacitor across each  winding of an AC motor.  3 windings; 3 capacitors each of equal value, calculated to correct the P.F.

    For a DC machine, place the capacitors across the phases, from phase-to-phase, before the AC-DC converter.
