Question:

How to use guggul gum (in the gum form)?

After reading about the benefits of guggul, I decided to buy a few ounces of guggul gum at my local health food market. I've seen capsules sold all over the internet and thought I'd be able to find a website that would tell me how to use it in gum form, but I can't seem to find anything.

Just to clarify, it is in (what I assume) raw form. The pieces look like clumps of hardened dark brown sugar.

Am I supposed to eat it as is or is there a way to prepare it? Also, how much should I take/eat?

Please only answer if you've had personal experience or education on this, since it could potentially be a bad mistake if I get bad info.

Thank you!

  1. Well, you could just swallow 1 gram (which is about 1/4 teaspoon) one to three times a day (which is a normal recommendation). In it's normal ingestible form, Guggul is more of a resin, so it should kind of look like hardened brown sugar.

It might not taste very good, but people in India do eat it. If you don't like the taste, you might have an easier time getting some capsules of Guggul from your local healthfood store or a company you trust. I would definitely recommend against taking too much at once (no more than 3 grams per day). Good luck!

  2. It is best digested through your saliva so you can just pop1 gram of the neat resin under your tongue or in your mouth until it's dissolved..........I find this way to be more effective........

If you're just interested about its health benefits, you can

take it once a day, but for weight loss or high cholesterol issues, you can take the same amount x 4 different intervals.....

I find that my blood pressure or sugar drops when I take it more than once/day..........

    Hope this was helpful
