Question:

How to use my internal hard drive on new PC?

I have an internal Seagate Barracuda 250 GB HD (ATA Sata) that I would like to utilize on my Dimension PC. I don't really want to add another drive inside the case so I would rather use it as an external drive. I am going to install XP and make myself another hard drive to use. The computer hard drive I have is only 100 GB and there is some sort of issues whenever I open my DOS application, it slows down everything on the computer. Rather than wipe all my precious data, I want to try to reinstall on the bigger HD and see if I end up with a good OS. Now these connections are different than what I've seen before, it doesn't have all the prongs like the cable plugs into (it's 2 narrow plug ins). It says it's an OEM HD? I see cheap kits on Ebay but I am not sure what to buy? What should I buy in order to make this an external hard drive that I can reinstall Win XP and just use it as my normal computer hard drive. Obviously the other hard drive on my system would be for data if and when I need them.

  1. To help you, I need a visual on that hard drive..  I thought there must be some new technology on connections, but everything that I have gone through leads me to believe it should have the same connections as ATA.  Please,  take photos of the hard drive, the connection's and info ontop of the hard drive, showing the code to change from Master to Slave, or auto..  Absolutely the connections.  mareleigh@yahoo.com
