Question:

How to use old fashioned picture lights.?

In our new house, there are picture lights on the walls. They are quite old fashioned, strip- lights with a round mounting plate, and on each side of the mounting plate is a little metal bobble.

My question is this; do I hang the picture so that the wire goes behind the bobbles, thus the light will take the weight of the picture, or do I hang the picture on a picture hook separate from the light fitting?

Thanks for your help.

  1. You should secure your pictures seperate from the lighting fixture. The bobbles are either decoration or the plate bolts. You should never hang anything from a lighting fixture because the weight could pull it out causing sparks while your not at home.
