  2. The most common problem with using the word 'only' is WHERE the word is placed in the sentence. Informally, it is usually placed between the subject and the verb regardless of what it refers to ... which isn't a problem in spoken language because the intonation will usually clarify the sense. In writing, however, it's necessary to place the word more precisely. For instance, if you were to say: I only want to talk to you, do you mean you want only to TALK to me? or do you mean you want to talk only to ME? or do you mean the only thing you want in the world is to talk to me?
