  1. no not really

  2. Yeah, it sure does.

In a magazine of mine, the people asked random girls if they get taught s*x-ed at their schoo. (hehehe)

And this girl that went to a boarding school was like 'We have been taught a bit, but not all the nitty-gritty'

Which means information i think .or really detailed information...

    :]

  3. there was a band called nitty-gritty dirt band my friend loves

  4. No the word nitty-gritty is used alot where I come from.

  5. "She thought she understood the nitty-gritty of life, but really she had only begun to grasp the basics."

  6. Yeah it does... it means "She thought she understood the hard facts/harsh realities of life" basically

  7. nitty gritty means the heart of something so I think it works in that sentence

  8. As long as the reader understands the meaning of "nitty-gritty", you're sentence is fine.

  9. If people get down to the nitty-gritty of a matter, situation, or activity, they discuss the most important, basic part of it or facts about it.

If she thought that she has understood the basic part of the life,it is not incorrect to say that she understood the nitty-gritty of life.

ex....Peking's newspapers still attempt to get down to the nitty-gritty of investigative journalism.

ex....I am unable to understand the nitty-gritty of everyday politics.

btw..Nitty-gritty is also spelled as nitty gritty.
