How to use your diaphragm?

ok so ive been searching things on the internet about how to sing and it really doesn't tell how to use your diaphragm, it just says how it works, it doesn't really say how to use it and my friend told me that i should suck in my stomach to use my diaphragm. but i really dont know. so please tell me how to use my diaphragm and not about it

Lie down on your bed facing up as if you're sleeping and you'll notice that when you breath, your shoulders don't move and instead it feels like you're sending the air down. When you're singing, try doing the same, send the air down (to your diaphragm) and don't raise your shoulders.
