  1. firstly a horse with a cut/scar cant be shown s judges take points off.

secodnly a skinny horse is most likly not going 2 take being ridden 2 very well.

id say for a horse like that up 2 $800

  2. well it depends if it's just a little underweight or needs rescuing skinny.

if it's a little underweight normally no money will be deducted but if it really skinny you'd have a hard time paying someone to take it.

with the cut, if it's a halter show horse and if it's going to scar, basically the horse is useless. if it's just a riding horse and touch wood that the tendons are all still intact just a few hundred.

but this depends on how much the horse is worth in the first place and other variable factors like the current economy.

  3. Well in my experiences buying a horse with a huge cut in his leg is a mistake. Usually they are not completly sound and can have other heath problems.

  4. Right now the horse market is WAY down, so chances are that a horse that is ribby, with a cut on it's leg is going to be passed by when it comes to finding a buyer.  For that amount of money, you can find something unregistered, full fleshed and unblemished.

You can point this out to the horse's owner and maybe they will work with you on a realistic price tag.  You also didn't say how old he is, that may also have big say as to the price tag.  So does training.

  5. priceless

  6. A horse is worth what someone is willing to pay.  There is no set amount you can deduct.  Talk to the owner and make an offer.

  7. Keep in mind, the owner is probably hurting for money, if the horse looks as bad as you say. So the $1000 will help them. That is probably why it is skinny in the first place.

I would go with cash in hand $850 (have an extra $100 in your pocket just in case), and offer it to them. If they take it, good you have a horse...

  8. The only answer is what the market will bear. Or what you want for you horse or what the person selling the horse want and will take. If you drive up to the barn in a Vet. you know you are going to pay more that the guy who drive up in a 12 year old ford. And you did not say any thing about how well the horse rode. and you realy do not know what you are talking about, ifyou are looking at a horse with a deep cut on its leg, I would be calling the police, insted of looking for a deduction, I guess it take all kinds.

  9. Well you can value a horse by the way they are, how they look and if they are healthy!

Well i would ask the person selling the horse why it is so skinny and has a cut on it and tell them that you are not going to pay $1000 for a horse that is skinny and has a cut on! ! !
