How to view local TV channels without cable?

I have a TV in my garage but no cable outlet. How can I view the free to air local channels on the TV without cable connection?

I tried turning the TV on and tried various channel numbers but it does not show anything

You need a set of 'rabbit ears' and a tuner, if your TV isn't equipped with one. Go to your local electronics store, and ask them about your TV if you don't know if it has a tuner. Then pick up an antenna while you are there.

Hook it up to the back of the TV.
