  1. act like a class girl!!!! be classy!!!!! be polite and well yea...... don't be rude!!! and stay calm!!!! don't embarrass yourself!!!! adn well........ yea just be sophisticated

  2. Write everything down and NEVER tell you customer to be patient.  Just smile and say "I'll go check on that for you."

  3. You should really learn how to read your customer. This is something that cannot be taught. Some people like to interact with their server, some cannot stand a talkative server. Be weary of the guests who do not, for they will stiff you if they don't like the way you communicate with them. Be polite, avoid small talk, MAKE EYE CONTACT and try to learn the menu like the back of your hand. It is much better to remember an order than to write it down in front of the customer. It shows professionalism. Smiling is the most important tool in a servers arsenal. If the customer is rude, smile. It works. Good luck with your new job! Remember: You serve God before you serve anyone.

  4. just be courteous; let the guest know that u are there for them if they need anything and dont complain if they are mad or something like running u so much; be happy that u are serving them. also to write EVERYTHING down and REPEAT EVERYTHING back to them! most important^_^

  5. You will learn how to read people. They will train you in the step-by-step process, but you will find your own niche.

Smile, be polite, never complain about whats going on around you (they DONT CARE), don't flirt when its a couple, try to anticipate their needs, CHECK BACK AFTER THE FOOD IS SERVED.

  6. Every chance you get, ask your customer if they would like anything else and how everything is. Make sure you offer to keep their drinks full. recommend desert/s when you see they are almost done with main meal. If it's an all you can eat type thing, make sure they always have plenty before they run out. When you have time, talk about the weather or their clothes or something. Make conversation, get to know a little about them. This makes them want to come back and possibly ask to sit in your area next time. & If they are good tippers, you want them back in your area.

Hope this helps, I go out to eat often. Hubby gets upset when I say that waitress/waiter don't need much if any of a tip for not doing so well. : )
