I have a really nice down comforter and my fiance's new puppy had a bit of an accident on it. How do I clean it? Does it need to be taken to a dry cleaner? If so how much will that run me?

  1. I have a very expensive WONDERFUL down comforter.

You would think that I take it to the dry cleaner, right?

Nope, I throw it in the wash. Then I toss the very heavy thing into the dryer on medium heat.

Because it's so big, I usually have to run throught the dry cycle twice.

Never had any problem doing this. It's still in perfect condition two years later.

  2. Does it still have the washing instruction tag.  Some of the never downs can be washed.  Remember ducks and geese do get wet.  If you can't find the tag take it to the dry cleaner.

  3. I used to work for a dry cleaner. If the down comforter is white, you can just put it in a front load washer with some Woolite. Just make sure you use the delicate setting and that it is a front load washer, not top load.

Dry on medium heat, stop it and unroll it every 20 minutes. Make sure it's dry, the let it "air out" to release the heat from the dryer.
