  1. As already mentioned by everyone, definitely read and follow the washing instructions!

Me personally, I always hand washed all my dresses - practice or competition.  Mostly cool water - and I used Woolite.  And I air dried them on hangers (indoors).

With competition dresses, I hand washed them as well . . . but only because I did my own beading and such and knew it's "strength" to hold up.  I didn't have particularly fancy sparkly comp dresses, so that was ok.

I'm no laundry expert, so the above may not necessarily be the best way - that was just my way :P  They didn't shrink and the colors stayed . . . so I guess it was ok!!!  :)

  2. Probably best to dry clean.

  3. Are there no washing instructions?  If not, wash in cool water, and be really gentle with what you use and how you treat it.  Dry in flat in the airing cupboard.  If you are really worried, how about taking it to the dry cleaner?

  4. always read the label of couse but the right soap powder is a must, and  dissolve it first  in cool water and wash inside out never spin and try to dry it flat or on a hanger if you can but if your still not sure ask some one at the ice rink how do thay do theres.

  5. First, check the label for instructions.  If there are none, and the dress is plain, you're probably safe handwashing it or putting it in the washer (on cold water!) and then hanging it to dry.  If it has any sequins, etc., then take it to a dry cleaner.

  6. If it is lacey and has sequins and bits on it a good way is to place it inside a white pillow case and tie it at the top. Place it in the washing machine without detergent and place on a 30c wash. When it has finnished hang it on a coat hanger

  7. Usually the tags inside of a dress will give you the best directions to wash the dress, usually you hand wash them, or dry clean them.
