  1. I did this with two kids and it worked perfect: take the pacifiers and each day cut a sliver of the nipple off and give it to him when he asks and keep cutting it off until there isn't a nipple left, then when he wants it give him the pacifier but there will be no nipple.  The kids we tried it to would be a little confused and we would just tell them it broke, they never once said anything about it again.

  2. I just took my daughter off her bobo (Passy) yesterday. I cut the top off and left it on the dresser for her to find. She found it and now her bobo is broken.

  3. mine still uses his, mostly because I'm not prepared to take it away. he only uses it to fall asleep.

snip the end of the nipple of the pacifier off, the comfort from sucking will go away.

start putting him to bed with a sippy cup of water or juice rather than the soother.

only use it for bed time to start with.

  4. Start by reducing the number of times a day he uses it. If he uses it for nap and bed only, take away the nap time paccie at first, then when it's time for you to take them away all together, tell him that the paccie fariy is coming to collect all the paccies for the new babies.

Take them and place them in a bag on your front porch, then when your son wakes up in the morning, make sure there is a special gift for him in the same place as you put the paccies. (saw it on supernanny)

  5. Personally i think he's a bit young. Mine was 3 and a half when i took her's away altogether and it was ever so easy as i think she was ready for it.

She had only been having it at night time from been 2 years old and not during the day.

  6. I took my son camping when he was 2 and it kept falling into the dirt and he was busy playing so I took it away and he never asked for it again.  try keeping him busy I think he might be a little young but then again i feel the younger the easier.  I would start by trying to keep it away from him during the day and only give it at night and then try to stop that little by little

  7. My oldest is 4, and my youngest is 20 months. I know this may seem bad to some, but it worked for us....I made (and will make) them give it up when they are 3.  For instance, my four year old only used it at night and for nap, so when he turned about two and a half, I told him everyday for 6 months, that when he turned three, he was a big boy, and he no longer needed a paci. I think the repetition of me telling him got him ready, and at 3 he gave it up willingly with no fuss. I will do the same for my youngest. I feel like it is the same as potty training. You can not make them do something until they are old enough to understand.
