I'm not sure what I did, but the window for Safari on my Macbook seems to be more narrow. How can I make it wider across the screen? (and clicking on the green + button doesn't help) Thank you.

  1. As with many features, OS X thinks of "maximize" in a completely different way than Windows. It will maximize the window for content of the window itself, not for the screen around it.

If you want to make a window wider, just drag that bottom right corner with the diagonal lines. Works in just about every app.
