I need some tips on how to keep the pressure off in a tennis match and not to be nervous

  1. #1 rule is BE CONSISTENT!!! Also try to hit drop shots when your opponent is at the base line, and lobs for when your opponent is at the net. Hope the helps!!

Everyone that has answered this question has had a good suggestion, but you probably wouldn't think of this.  Before every match, I play ten minutes of ping pong.  Ping pong requires lots of coordination and when you play it, the cerebellum (the area in the brain that controls coordination) is lit up.  So in theory, you play better tennis.  Try it!

  4. physically prepare as getting into fitness enhancing activities such as cycling running or swimming  gives you a great advantage on court just look at Nadal hed be nowhere near the player he is without the physical superiority and it gives you more confidence in your game knowing you can outlast an opponent.

    Mentally try to play every point like its match point and dont  ever give in at any point in a match. ive come back from 1-6 3-6 2-4 against my uncle to win 1-6 3-6 7-5 6-4 6-2 and im not even very good(my uncles def better player technically)

    i just didnt give up and could keep going

    Also play regularly to improve technical game maybe get coaching on techniques and coaches can advise you how to deal with pressure.The more you play the less nervous youll be.

    enjoying the game is huge if you can keep enjoyment high and like playing matches for the pleasure of the game and thrill of competition pressure wont get too you.

    Finally tactically work out your strenghts and opponents weaknesses and play to them.

  5. Just think, "I can do this." Don't get upset with your mistakes, and keep trying. If your losing, change a losing game! Try different tactics. Go for some of your shots, and always stay confident.

  9. Never think "One more point to go" or "I better win this point" Tennis is mental and physical. Ur opponent can see when ur mad and frustrated. Try to focus on the ball. Take deep breathes and stand up tall and proud.
