How to winterize a boat?

Hi i have a inboard outboard motor on my boat 130 hp 4 cylinder mercruiser , I want to winterize it myself but im no mechanic , can anyone instruct me how to do it ? also will I have to start the engine to do it? because the boat is out of the water now and I do not have the muffs? to do it , so I dont want to start and ruin the engine
