How to wire a DPDT switch please?

Ive got a DPDT momentary rocker switch. One position will operate a cylinder up through a solenoid and the other will operate the solenoid down. Where is there a wiring diagram to accomplish what Im looking for?

  1. See those six black dots? Thats the switch. Ignore that other stuff.


  2. you need a center-off momentary switch to accomplish this.  center contact is common, either side powers the up or down solenoid.  other answer is correct, you only need a spdt-center off switch, but either common both sides for more power if you need it, or to operate a position signal.  sounds like a model railroading switch problem.

  3. A lot of wrong answers, you need both sections, as you want to reverse the polarity of the voltage to reverse the direction of the solenoid.

  4. This type of switch is really two SPDT switches in tandem, wire them as such.
