Question:

How to wire a new light fitting?

I am replacing a battern fitting with a metal based oyster fitting which has provision for 3 connection points - L, E, N

From these connection points, two wires go to the lamp holder - 1 x brown from the L and 1 x blue from the N

Existing battern has following wires coming into it

- unsheathed earth wire into a connection point

- 2 x black into another connection point

- 1 x black into a separate connection point

The actives (3 x red) are hooked into a connector separate from the battern

MY QUESTION IS

What wires do I hook up to the new oyster

I was thinking that I put the earth into E and put the 3 x black into N

But then I thought, why don't the original 3 x black go into the same connection point on the battern fitting?

Any advice (apart from what's black and laying next to the milk crate under the blackened mark on the ceiling) would be appreciated.

Thanks
