  1. you go round course with an independant club member,he scores your round then disregards your three best and worst holes, leaving 12 holes of which he takes your score compare it to the par for these 12 holes and the difference is your handicap

  2. I think its the average about par you are on each hole

so take your score, subtract par, and divid by the holes?haha idk though

  3. There is alot of ways to get a handicap.

At my golf course you play 3 rounds of golf and add up all 3scores and divide it by 3.

This gives you the average of the 3 rounds. You then minus the standard scratch score of the course giving you the handicap.

    e.g Par 72.

    Round 1 - 97

    Round 2 - 85

    Round 3 - 86

    They add up to 268

    divide by 3 = 89.3

    89.3 - 72 = 17.3

Therefore your exact handicap would be 17.3 and thats rounded to 17.

Some courses in the US, if not nearly all would ask for 5 rounds and they take your best card.

Or 20 rounds and take the best 10 then work out using the slope rating etc.

It can go pretty indepth but a good way is the method I have said
