If you belong to a local golf club, or a member of a local golf course, they should be providing that service to you via their terminals.   To become a member, go to your local 18 hole golf course and ask at the pro shop (normally you'll have to join their club).

A nice golf social website that does pretty much the same thing and is free (but their handicap index is not recognized by all tournament events) is www.stracka.com

If you want to calculate your handicap yourself, the formula is quite complicated.  Generally speaking, your handicap index is an average of a percentage of all your lowest scoring games' scores (up to 10 of the last 20) ...  But the scores you post has to be ESC adjusted (Equitable Stroke Control, see http://www.usga.org/playing/handicaps/un...

and to figure out your course handicap to apply ESC, you take your current handicap * course slope rating / 113.  Confused yet??
