Question:

How to wrap a stable bandage?

I know how to wrap the bandage, but I was wondering if its supposed to cover the entire fetlock. I've heard you can do it 2 ways. 1 cup the fetlock and 2 not cup the fetlock. Is that true or do you need to cup the fetlock?

  1. when using polos you always cup the fetlock

when using stable bandages you always have a pillow wrap underneath or a no bow wrap, and you do not cup the fetlock...

are you asking for polos? like riding?

    or trailering? like standing wraps?

  2. As said above, with polos you wrap the fetlock, but with standing wraps or sometimes trailering wraps ( I use shipping boots instead) you want to make sure not to wrap too tightly or to warp any tendons. They have special pillow wraps now that can help prevent 'bowing' a tendon. Try looking on Youtube to find a video that can show you how to wrap. You always want to pull to tighten in the direction of the tendon, never toward the front of the horse. This can cause damage and stress on the tendons. You can always ask someone to teach or show you and learn while they are there so you don't make a mistake :) Better safe than sorry!

    Good luck!
