  1. First start of by giving a brief summary of the book.  What was the book about, who were the main characters, where and when does the book take place.

    Next pick out a few points that stuck out for you and describe them in a little more detail and why you thought those points are important to discuss.

    Try to find reasons that the book is relevant now.  In other words why should a person read this book, or if you don't think that it's worth the paper it's printed on explain why.

    Hope that helps.

  2. If your teacher gave no specifics, here's what I would do.  (Were you told how long it should be?)

    * Where and when the story takes place.  Not when it was written!  But when the events in the story take place.

    * What the genre is.  It can be more than one genre.  Examples are mystery, fantasy, adventure, memoir, etc.

    * Who is telling (narrating) the story?  Narration is also called point of view.  The website below explains it in detail.

    * Give a brief summary of the plot.

    * Describe the main characters.

    * What is the main theme of the story?  There can be more than one.

    * You might want to say what the story meant to you personally.

    This website gives more details than you need, but it explains things clearly:
