  2. Quick to get into, easy to read, exciting, original, full of action (because most kids have zero patience.) Small words, so that they can understand easily. Think about what you liked when you were young, and chances are kids today will like it as well.

    Romance is a good way to suck in a slightly larger audience, as it appeals to older kids, too.

    I'm speaking as a reader of mostly Teen Fantasy.

    What made them exciting to you?  How did you relate to the story?

    Writing books for children and writing childish books are two different things.

    Look at things from a child's point of view.
